Bombers Elliptical Lozenge Pelham

This Elliptical Lozenge Pelham bit from Bombers Bits has a 45mm lozenge, which is designed to help the horse to mouth the bit and comfortably relax his jaw. The double joints remove the nutcracker action, as the bit stays in a curved shape, following the contours of the horse's mouth. Therefore the bar and palette pressure associated with single-jointed bits is removed.

The blue sweet iron mouthpiece oxidises easily, warming up and creating a sweet taste. This encourages the horse to salivate and gently mouth the bit, accepting and softening to the contact.

The rings on the Pelham provide a similar action to that offered by a double bridle, but in a less precise manner. When the top rein is used, the bit has a similar action to that of a hanging cheek snaffle, putting pressure on the bars of the mouth as well as a limited amount of poll pressure. The curb rein provides leverage action on the poll and also puts pressure on the curb groove via the curb chain. The pelham can be used with two reins or with pelham roundings.
